Martens on the Move

Martens on the Move is a local project focusing on community engagement and establishing Pine Marten monitoring hubs in strategic locations - our area being one of them.

The Team hopes to progress with this project in 2024. The Men’s Shed will be looking at building Pine Marten den boxes and feeders in support of this project.

Jewellery Workbench - Thank You Brian!

Today I picked up a specially designed work bench for my workshop - beautifully made by Brian at the Men's Shed. I am absolutely thrilled with the quality of the build and it is now sitting in its place waiting to be used. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thank You John!

This is a special thanks to John Thorogood who has worked tirelessly to build spirit and momentum with the fantastic team we have at The Knighton Men's Shed.

He was invited to attend the House of Lords for a ceremony, hosted by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thomson to celebrate being Shortlisted for the UKMSA Shed of the Year 2023 award! Simon Gill accompanied.

Here's John's note:

"Thank you everyone for your supportive replies. I am made up that such a small Shed in our rural location can.make the final 3 nominations for Community Shed of the Year. It must indicate something. Simon and I are so proud to accept this ward on behalf of our fantastic members who gel together like strawberries & cream. Love you loads guys this is all about it's you who make the Shed what it is - John Thorogood"

Altar Frontal Case for St Stephen's

Dear John, we are writing to you today, to say how good and generous you have been with your time, energy and skill in making the excellent Altar Frontal Case for St Stephen's.

We are aware that this has taken much of your time, along with your involvement with The Men's Shed.

All the members of Old Radnor PCC are delighted with the smart presentation of the finished article. It's not easy to produce an item that has to be situated in a 'heritage' setting, but we are thrilled that you have accomplished this successfully!

Once again, many thanks,

Yours sincerely,

Jennifer Williams

Old Radnor PCC Secretary

Local Places For Nature -- Knighton Town Council

Knighton is so very lucky to have the Men's Shed located within our community. They are such an asset to our town, providing a wonderfully efficient and excellent service.

The Town Council have commissioned them for a number of projects, the most recent being our Local Places for Nature grant, where they have made a large number of bird, bat, and owl boxes and bug hotels which will be put up within the town, a number of planters which will be located in the town centre and we have also purchased tools from them.

Their craftmanship is of a very high standard and we are so pleased with the items. We look forward to working with them for future projects.
